- Vincenzo Peruggia (Lope de Vega X Sliabh Luachra) made a pleasing racecourse debut on June 15th at Hamilton, finishing 3rd. On July 5th he went to Beverley to contest the EBF Novice Stakes, going to post a short priced favourite. Though the race was over 7½f he dictated the pace from the outset, winning by 3½ lengths with plenty in hand. The racing report said unchallenged and drawing away clear over the final furlong.
Vincenzo’s dam Sliabh Luachra, a High Chaparral mare and half sister to Mehmas. She is the dam of four winners including Siamsa who was black type placed on two occasions. She had a dead foal in 2024 but is now safely back in foal to St Mark’s Basilica.
We can expect Vincenzo Peruggia to now step up to pattern races.
