Cairn Island took his place in this valuable York Nursery, which his trainer Kevin Ryan has targeted and gone close over the years. On this occasion he was not disappointed. Cairn Island stayed up with the pace and took the lead at the 1f mark. When passed he again fought back to win by a neck on the line. The 1st and 2nd were almost four lengths ahead of the remainder of the field.
