Carvalhal (Profitable X Peig) ran well at Ayr and Redcar in July and got another trip to Scotland on Saturday.  Ridden by the experienced Paul Mulrennan he took the lead from the stalls and was never headed.  At the post he had six lengths to spare over his nearest rival and when asked to race at the 1f mark he kept drawing further and further from the field.  For this Hamilton win, his official rating had been reduced from a high of 62 to 53.  The manner of his win will go right back up but with firm ground more wins will lie ahead.

Carvalhal is the third winner out of the mare Peig.  His full sister will sell at Fairyhouse in September.
