Epidemic (Exceed & Excel X Symposia) had run three times as a 2YO, twice in November, so as to gain his handicap mark. Making his reappearance on Monday at Windsor he went off as 2/1 favourite and did not disappoint his followers.
His inexperience showed when the field kicked on at the furlong mark leaving him in last place with a lot to do. When the penny dropped he flew the final furlong and won drawing away. Being out of a Galileo mare he may well be better when stepped up to further distance.
Epidemic is out of a Juddmonte raced Galileo mare. The mare has a Zoffany yearling filly and a foal who is a full brother to Epidemic. She is back in foal to Profitable.
We would like to congratulate his owners in the Wild Card Partnership and his trainer George Boughey for this clever purchase at the December sales. Further handicap wins can be expected.
