When Escobar won the valuable John Smith Handicap on July 13th his trainer said he would next run in the valuable Unibet Golden Mile Handicap at Goodwood on August 2nd.  Here he was most unlucky, getting stopped twice, yet finishing 3rd.  On October 5th at Ascot he again finished 3rd in the Bet 356 Challenge Cup worth Stg. £112,000 to the winner.

Getting a break of just two weeks he again appeared at Ascot on October 19th to contest the Balmoral Handicap worth Stg. £155,000 to the winner.  Held up in last place he made his move two furlongs out to draw right away in the final furlong and win by two and a half lengths.

His total winnings now stand at over €380,000. With his official rating gone up to 111 his connections will have a big decision to make, whether or not to stay with valuable handicaps or race in pattern company.  Whichever route is chosen it should not be the end of his winning ways.
