Escobar was off the track for 217 days when reappearing at York on May 21st. With earnings in excess of half a million euros and an official rating of 107 he had to once again shoulder a top weight of 10st 11lbs in a very competitive handicap. Held up at the rear of the thirteen runners he started to make headway from the 2f mark, making his challenge from the furlong pole. It seemed an impossible task but his jockey did not panic to hit the line a neck in front and drawing away. He was giving 18 lbs to the horse who finished 2nd and 34 lbs to the horse in 3rd place.
His next run is likely to be in the Royal Hunt Cup at Ascot where he finished in mid field, after no luck in running, in 2021.
