Having finished second in the Coventry at Ascot, Mehmas went one better in winning the July Stakes (GR 2) at Newmarket. The good to firm ground was very much in his favour compared to the soft at Ascot. He tracked the leaders to two out, going in front at the 1f mark and stayed on well when challenged by the runner up.

The trainer said that he will next go for the Richmond Stakes at Goodwood.

Mehmas is by Acclamation and his dam Lucina is in foal to Harbour Watch – the son of Acclamation.
