Point Lonsdale (Australia X Sweepstake) had a lot to live up to, in his Curragh Debut on June 2nd being a full brother to the multiple group winner Broom.  With both named after towns in Australia they are putting both these towns and the sire Australia into everyday racing conversation.

Point Lonsdale started at the Curragh on Wednesday and though running green in the early stages of the race, he went clear inside the final furlong winning by a comfortable six lengths.  His next outing is in the Chesham Stakes at Ascot on June 19th.

Sweepstake has a Lope de Vega yearling filly which is being sold in Book One at Newmarket.  She has a Frankel colt foal on the ground in Croom.  Point Lonsdale will obviously improve when stepped up in distance and we may not see him at his best until running in the middle distance races as a 3YO.
